Welcome

MICHAEL SYLVAN ROBINSON:
A visionary fiber artist, Robinson’s pieces are created with extensive hand sewing and beading.  Finding inspiration in the iconography and symbolism of our ancestral artists, he re-examines the role of Artist as mystic and messenger.  A Baltimore artist and teacher, Michael Sylvan Robinson is a pro-feminist gay man who has led workshops across the country in artistic, academic, and spiritual settings.  In 2008, he earned an M.F.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College, and he has a B.A. from Bennington College (1989) with an emphasis in dance, drama, and literature.  Originally a costume designer and performance artist from New York City, his art has been shown in galleries and exhibitions including the National Queer Arts Festival in San Francisco (2009).  He is a semi-finalist for the 2010 Sondheim Prize, and his work will be exhibited in this year’s Artscape.
